In The Studio: Underworld – Bird 1 (Rich Curtis & Silva bootleg)

3 07 2011

A bootleg production made for the dancefloor of a great Underworld track Bird 1.  The original was a collab between Dubfire and Underworld.  The stems were made available through one of the remix competition websites.  It was produced in Logic on an Apple iMac over the course of a weekend.

This bootleg went to number one on an underground promo website called releasepromo.com

Apr 25 – Easter Excess with Desyn Masiello

26 04 2011

A very busy gig with sets on the courtyard and main room.  Playing relatively early in the courtyard with a building crowd was fun.  Needless to say Desyn in the main room showed why he’s a leading professional

Feb 12 2011 – Ulterior: A Wax Affair w Charlie May

3 03 2011

Big night with 3 phases to take care of.  Phase 1 was a sunset courtyard party.  Phase 2 is the courtyard night party showcasing the producers and musicians.  And Phase 3 was the vinyl techno party in the main room.  We played a peak time techno set in the main room – all vinyl!!!.  Sounds were ranging from Funk D’void to Dave Clarke to Adam Beyer.  Great review of the night from Novanation here.

Fri 18_12_09 – Anthony Pappa @ Empire (Ulterior)

19 12 2009

Line Up:

  • Anthony Pappa
  • Dingostyle
  • Rich Curtis
  • CJM
  • Yokoo

A repeat visitor for Ritual Events, Anthony Pappa has been described as a human “drum machine”.

Yokoo warmed up with a nice set of tech goodness.  We played approx. 11-12.30 before Anthony came on.  Some big tracks (for us) were Sebastien Leger – The Rhythm and Marco Bailey – Jungle Laps.

Pappa came on and started with an accapella and then proceeded to weave his magic.  The crowd was up for it.  He had some great new (promo) tunes from Guy J and also played a tune called Bombscare (?) which tore the place down.

RichCur came on about 3.30 and wound the night out with a few big ones.

Fri 11_12_09 – House Arrest feat Chris Wilson

11 12 2009

Big night at Tonic Lounge with Family’s boss of music.

Set Times

9.00 – 11.00 – Rich Curtis

11.00-12.30 – Dingostyle

12.30 – 2.30 – Chris Wilson

2.30 – close – CJM

This was our first Friday night House Arrest and the night went well.  Chris rocked the place and it was busy right up until the end…

Fri 16_10_09 – Reset Robot @ Empire (Ulterior)

16 10 2009

Reset Robot (aka Dave Robertson) has been producing some of the world’s best tech music.  He has a long history making tunes under his own name, one that we particularly hammered was The Rendition.

At the moment he’s been collaborating with Christian Smith, Alan Fitzpatrick and Dubfire.  Dubfire and Coxy have been playing a lot of his stuff lately, and that’s promo that you can’t pay for.

Reset played a trademark set, the only disappointment was crowd numbers.  But you’ve got to take the good with the bad.

Sat 10_10_09 – House Arrest feat. Habebe

10 10 2009

Late Night Addiction’s (LNA) boss comes to tonic for another House Arrest instalment.

Habebe played the main set and also dropped his new remix of Juan Kidd’s Burning which has just been signed to Erick Morillo’s Subliminal label.

We closed the night with a few new ones and some old classics.

Sun 20_09_09 – Ulterior pres. Slam and Fergie @ Empire Middle Bar

20 09 2009

What a massive double billing we had for this gig.  We got to take over the Empire’s Middle Bar instead of our usual Moon Bar habitat.

Slam = all time techno legends from Scotland

Fergie = hardhouse legend turned techno maestro from Ireland

Chris Wilson got proceedings underway before CJM and Rich took over about sunset.  We came on at about 7 and played for about two hours with the crowd building nicely.  This is (just) a few of the tunes we played

Loco Dice – How do I know (Cassy mix)
Tiga – Beep, Beep, Beep (Loco Dice mix)
Roberto Capuano – El Borracho
DJ Sneak – Some More
Butch – Amelie (Format B mix)
Lauhaus – Late Nights
Mark Broom – People (Nick Curly mix)
Joris Voorn – Chase the Mouse
Lauhaus – Back to Ipanema
Knee Deep – Gypsy Bucket
Moritz Piske – Real One
Tiefschwarz – Trust
District One – Dubcrystal (Julien Chaptal & Lauhaus remix)

Fergie came on about 9 and Slam at about 11pm.  They both played excellent sets, a night to remember…
